Miss Fox tells us to move closer to Zios' grave site. I grin when I hear Sparkle complain, "Oh come on! This is disgusting! Eww!" as she stepped in some snake poop. Miss Fox looks to the back of the class (where Sparkle and I are) and then to the entire class again. We sit around the grave as we look at it. Then Miss Fox begins her lecture about how this is important to learning Jamaasian culture. "Zios created life to our land, Jamaa with help of a majestic bird. Do you know who?" Miss Fox begins. A fox raises his paw and answers, "The majestic bird is Mira, a Blue Heron. Mira is our Sky Mother, and Zios is our Sky Father." He is one of the smartest in my class, always answering a question correctly right away. Miss Fox speaks again but doesn't stop this time. "Make observations, class. And yes, you're right, that's Mira. Zios has made all of us. He created foxes to walk around this town of ours. He created every living thing in fact. He made Jamaa have hot deserts, to swampy forests, to cold mountains in the tundra. Zios made us have adaptations to live on every different habitat of Jamaa." I stared into Zios' grave. I wasn't paying attention to Miss Fox blabber on about Jamaa's history. I already heard it a million times already. Time must of passed by because when I finally paid attention again, Miss Fox concluded, "When Zios died here, Mira was so broken-hearted that she cried tears of sadness and anger onto his dead body. When her tears hit the dust covering Zios' body, they turned into phantoms. Mira panicked and tried covering up the body by making a grave, but the phantoms stayed attached to his body." I lose sense of my surroundings and continue to stare at the hole in the earth, Zios' grave. I suddenly see a light purple mist getting darker as every second passes by. Now it's black. I know I should go away from the grave, but I stay. I cough followed by several more coughs. I cover my mouth with a paw, but it doesn't stop. I fall down and almost fall asleep. Not yet, though. My mind is fuzzy and my head dizzy.
I look back to where I am and notice something. Miss Fox isn't here, neither is the rest of my class. "Wha-" I start, confused. "Come on Twinkle..." I hear a voice that sounds like Miss Fox's; I'm not sure anymore. Then a new voice. "Get away from there Twinkle! Now!" But before I can get up and catch up with my class, my eyes see never ending darkness. I close my eyes.
